The Kanaka Bar Indian Band signs a revenue sharing agreement for the Kwoiek Creek project

On July 10, a ceremony was held to celebrate an agreement between the British Columbia government and the Kanaka Bar Indian Band that will see the Kanaka Bar share revenues from the Kwoiek Creek hydroelectric project. Innergex, the project's partner and operator, took advantage of the occasion to organize a tour of the power plant near Lytton, British Columbia. Guests, including the Honourable John Rustad, British Columbia's Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation, were eager to learn more about run-of-river hydroelectricity. The revenue-sharing agreement is awarded by the First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund, which promotes the participation of British Columbia's Aboriginal communities in the renewable energy industry.
