The 251 MW Bessie Wind Project is primarily located on private land in Treaty 8 territory, near Dawson Creek, BC. Majority owned by West Moberly First Nations and developed in partnership with Innergex, the project will generate clean, renewable electricity while bringing long-term benefits and opportunities to the community.

Over its 30-year Power Purchase Agreement with BC Hydro, this project will create lasting benefits for the community. It will share revenues with participating landowners and project partner West Moberly First Nations, support the local economy through direct, indirect, and induced opportunities, and help create local jobs and business opportunities—all while providing clean, renewable energy for the future.

Developed with care for the community and environment, the Bessie Wind Project will strengthen the community, advance reconciliation, and demonstrates how clean energy and social well-being go hand in hand.

The Bessie Wind Project was selected by BC Hydro to supply clean, renewable energy under its 2025 Call for Power and is expected to reach commercial operations in 2032.

Respecting archaeological, cultural, and environmental features of a site we develop is a priority. Studies and analyses will be conducted on the conceptual project layout to gain a thorough understanding of the features on the site. The intent would be to arrive at the best possible final layout that balances these aspects along with technical and community considerations.

Respect for the land and its long history of use is central to the Bessie Wind Project. Extensive environmental, archaeological, technical, and socio-economic studies are underway to inform project design and ensure potential effects are carefully understood and addressed. These studies include wildlife, vegetation, birds and bats, aquatic habitats, terrain and soils, wind resources, and archaeology, with Indigenous Knowledge and participation playing a key role throughout the process. We welcome your feedback and comments on the studies.

The Bessie Wind project will deliver long-term environmental, economic, and community benefits for project partners, local and Indigenous communities as well as the Province of BC.
