A sustainable approach to developing renewable energy projects that accelerate the energy transition

Innergex’s mission to create a better world with renewable energy in a spirit of sustainable development guides us to always balance the needs of People, our Planet and Prosperity. Our track record is successful because of our philosophy and expertise in engaging early with, and listening to, local and Indigenous communities. Thanks to their collaboration and constructive feedback, our projects are integrated into their surroundings and help shape lasting legacies.

Innergex’s high-quality facilities are designed to maximise environmental protection while producing the clean, renewable energy necessary for the urgent decarbonization we need to achieve. We have a long history of sharing the prosperity generated by our facilities with the local and Indigenous communities and stakeholders, ranging from sponsoring or supporting local organizations, to creating strong 50-50 equity partnerships.

Innergex’s unique approach to developing renewable energy, applied in all its projects worldwide, already makes a significant contribution to the well-being of multiple communities and of the planet.

Our prospective projects

Innergex also owns interest in numerous projects that have secured land rights, for which an investigative permit application has been filed or for which a proposal has been or could be submitted under a Request for Proposal or a Standing Offer Program (collectively the “prospective projects”). These projects are at various stages of development.

Some prospective projects are targeted toward specific Requests for Proposals. Other prospective projects are maintained or continue to be advanced and will be available for future requests for proposals yet to be announced or are targeted toward negotiated power purchased agreements with public utilities or other retail, financial or commercial entities (or other various arrangements) in Canada, the United States, France, and Chile. These numerous prospective projects have a combined potential net installed capacity of 7,281 MW. There is no certainty that any of these prospective projects will be realized.

Our multi-steps development process

Through our multi-step development process, Innergex controls all aspects of the project, from permitting and procurement to social acceptability and project financing. Being a long-term operator contributes to our success in developing our projects

Social acceptance is the cornerstone of successful project development for us and we believe that strong projects are built on long-term cooperation with stakeholders and by working in collaboration with Indigenous and local communities.

Indigenous Partnerships

Innergex currently has partnerships with more than 30 Indigenous communities across Canada on renewable energy facilities, some of which are in operation and others at various stages of development.

At Innergex, we take great pride in being a partner of choice for Indigenous communities across Canada on renewable energy projects. Our model is based on the belief that building lasting relationships and sharing the economic benefits of our projects not only creates wealth and future opportunities, but can be a path to reconciliation for many Indigenous communities.
