Overview
The Glen-Miller Facility draws water from the Trent-Severn Waterway, which has a drainage area of approximately 12,500 square kilometres and comprises Balsam, Sturgeon, Buckhorn, Stony and Rice Lakes.
This Facility consists of a run-of-the-river hydroelectric generating station with an installed capacity of 8MW that holds two simple-regulated Kaplan Ecobulbes turbine. The powerhouse is directly hooked to the 44 KV distribution system of Hydro One Networks Inc. The plant is fully automated and may be operated locally or remotely.The original plent as well as a part of the road which goes along the river were heightened and the plent equipped with motorized gates to be capable of evacuating the natural floods and eliminate the occasionally floods.The expected annual production of electricity of the Glen-Miller Facility is 41,606 MWhr.
