Horseshoe Bend

History

The Horseshoe Bend Facility is a run-of-the-river hydroelectric generating station located on the Payette River , at Horseshoe Bend City in the Boise County in Idaho , USA . The facility was developed on the site of a smaller hydroelectric project which was in operation from 1902 to 1954.

The Horseshoe Bend Hydroelectric Company (HBHC) was created in 1982 by L.B.Industries. In the 90’s, works were done in order to enlarge and increase the depth of the intake canal as well as update the production infrastructure. The facility was commissioned in 1995.

Innergex II, a private entity that develops renewable energy projects, completed the acquisition of HBHC on June 19, 2003. In fall 2004, Innergex II decided to sell the company and Innergex Power completed the acquisition of HBHC on December 31, 2004.

The Horseshoe Bend Facility is the first acquisition for which Innergex Power exercised its right of first offer on an asset sold by Innergex II, as per the cooperation agreement between both entities.
