Ashlu Creek
Location
Située sur la rivière Ashlu, un affluent de la rivière Squamish, à environ 35 kilomètres au nord-ouest de Squamish, en Colombie-Britannique, la centrale hydroélectrique au fil de l’eau d’Ashlu Creek est d’une puissance installée de 49,9 MW. On estime sa production énergétique annuelle à 265 000 MWh.
La construction de la centrale d’Ashlu Creek a débuté en août 2006 et sa mise en service commercial a eu lieu en décembre 2009. Toute l’électricité produite à Ashlu Creek est visée par un contrat d’achat d’électricité de 30 ans, à compter de la mise en service commerciale, avec BC Hydro. L’entente, qui viendra à échéance en 2039, contient entre autres des clauses d’indexation des prix de l’électricité.
La Centrale d’Ashlu Creek a obtenu la certification Éco-Logo et bénéficie du programme écoÉNERGIE, une initiative du gouvernement fédéral visant à appuyer l’énergie renouvelable au Canada. Le programme écoÉNERGIE offre un paiement incitatif de 10$ par MWh pour les 10 premières années d’exploitation de cette centrale.
Innergex détient 100 % des intérêts dans cette centrale.
The Ashlu Creek run-of-river hydroelectric power generating plant is located approximately 35 kilometers northwest of Squamish, British Columbia, on Ashlu Creek, a tributary of the Squamish River. Its nameplate capacity is 49.9MW, and its estimated annual energy output is 265,000 MWh.
Construction began in August 2006, and the facility started commercial operation in December 2009. All of the power generated at Ashlu Creek is covered by a 30-year power purchasing agreement (PPA) signed with BC Hydro, which takes effect with the start of commercial operation. The PPA, which will expire in 2039, contains electricity price adjustment and other clauses.
The Ashlu Creek plant, which has been granted Eco-Logo certification, is also eligible for the federal government’s ecoENERGY initiative (the “ecoENERGY Program”), intended to support renewable energy in Canada. The ecoENERGY Program offers a $10-per-MWh incentive for the first ten years of the facility’s operations.
This power plant is wholly owned by Innergex.
